North West Scotland Holiday

What’s included: All meals from evening meal on day 1 to breakfast on day 7. Transport to and from the walks. Accommodation, based on two people sharing.

Vegan Breaks is pleased to announce details of the North West Scotland Holiday. This spectacular area of Scotland is a favourite of many walkers and climbers, and it is easy to see why with impressive mountains, rugged coastline, a feeling of remoteness and some wildlife gems (if we’re lucky). We will use the small coastal village of Lochinver as our base and travel out each day for our walks.

Itinerary: Day 1 arrive, after 3pm

Days 2 – 6 are walking days and we will aim for some of the numerous hills of the area, which might include:

Suilven, iconic mountain of the Assynt area, rising above the coastal village of Lochinver. Made famous by the film ‘Edie’. Good tracks and spectacular views make this steep climb a rewarding treat.

Quinag, photo above, beautiful mountain sitting high above Kylesku.

Cul Mor, A grand day out with a vista of moorland and lochs in all directions

Ben Mor Assynt, a big day out to the local Munros

On the edge of land the Stoer peninsular. A shorter, lower level excursion.

There are many more to choose from and could include Glas Bheinn or the through route from Elphin to Lochinver. The walk will be decided the day before, taking weather, group and terrain into consideration each time.

Day 7 depart, by 10am

In the evenings you can relax in our comfortable accommodation, explore the village, visit the local hostelries or look for wildlife in the surrounding area.

If we have time we can visit, Knockan Crag, Ardvreck Castle and or of the beautiful beaches, either one evening or as part of our day out.

This is a hill walking holiday, the walks will be on a variety of terrain including good path, small tracks and no tracks. Rocky ground and boggy ground (almost guaranteed in Scotland) with some steep ascents and descents but all walks are achievable for most people with a good level of fitness. Ability to keep going is more important than speed. We will not be racing. Please bring suitable clothing for Scottish hills and weather. A kit list will be sent out and please ask if you have any questions about that side of things.

Our walks will be between 9 and 19km, with height gains of between 100m+ to nearly 900m and between 5 and 8 hours duration. This will depend on the walks we choose. We will take breaks and hopefully move at a relaxed but steady pace.

All food on the holiday will be vegan.

Continental breakfast will start the day, including fruits, fruit juice, cereals/museli/porridge, toast, tea coffee and other hot drinks.

Ingredients will be provided for you to make a picnic lunch each day: spreads, vegan cheeses, slices and salad. Crisps or nuts, fruit and snack bars.

Hearty evening meals, with three courses, will be prepared by Vegan Breaks staff each day.

Also, there will be cake!

Not included: alcoholic drinks and transport to and from the holiday, unless stated.
